I've not seen Bridgerton but was recently talking with someone who was concerned by how many of the high school girls were really into season 1 so I was glad to hear your analysis (esp. re: the sex scenes...since that was the reason for my friend's concern). I was reminded of Poldark which was also based on books titled for each of the characters and has a very strong leading lady! Also, Sanditon Season 2 was apparently much better than season 1 as is the case with Bridgerton.

If I had a teenage girl, I'm not sure I would want her watching Bridgerton S. 1. I would, however, watch S. 2 with her! I might even watch S. 1 with her, skip the sex scenes and talk about it with her. It might actually foster some age-appropriate conversations about sex, which I think are really important to have openly with our teenagers!

I've seen a bit of an episode of Poldark, but I have to admit that I've taken a long break from BBC via PBS shows! I might have overdid it during covid lockdown with Grantchester and the Durrells (another show that starts with the death of a patriarch). Sometimes I feel they churn out period dramas, which all start to blend together for me. Bridgerton is so for me because it's so anachronistic!

Enjoyed this season more than the first. I will say, there is still room to grow in their level of depth. I thought they touched on grief well. But I'm hoping they dive more into those topics next season. Do you know what sibling they will focus on next??

I agree with you on depth! The story this season felt more authentic, headed in the right direction, while the Duke's conflict with Daphne in the first season felt a bit contrived. At times I felt they were taking Anthony's refusal to acknowledge his feelings beyond believability as well. I'm not sure how much depth is possible in this period soap, but I do think they are making progress! And at least their screenwriters are good--I most always enjoy the dialogue.

It seems like the books go in order of age of the siblings, so it should be Benedict next! I would be happy if we skipped forward to Colin or Eloise :) Who knows what Netflix will do?!
