A Leading Ladies Update for subscribers
Download the Substack App; Tell me what you want; and a personal note from yours truly
Dear subscribers,
Thank you! Thank you for subscribing to this newsletter, Leading Ladies. Thank you for encouraging me to write, and for supporting this creative work of mine!
I love writing Leading Ladies. It’s one of my favorite outlets. My goal is to write something worth reading (and sometimes record something worth listening to) about things I believe are worth watching.
To that end, I have turned on paid subscriptions. After 30 days, my posts will be archived behind the paywall, with a few exceptions.
My subscription is $5 per month. Just think of it like this: one less latte at your favorite coffee shop in order to bring you one more good article to read while sitting at said coffee shop, drinking said latte!
However, if you would like to continue reading this newsletter but are unable to join as a paid subscriber at this time, I’m happy to get you in no charge. That’s my thanks for being an early adaptor!
As I experiment with subscriptions tiers, some things might change. And I want to hear from you. Keep reading or jump to the bottom of this post (trust me, you won’t want to! read for my personal update!) to participate in a few polls so I can get an idea of what you, my readers, want more of!
Along with access to all of my posts, you can join the Leading Ladies subscriber chat. Now, bear with me.
Substack has an app. And you might be thinking, why do I need another app on my phone or tablet?
Well, here’s my pitch: you probably have Instagram, or something like it. Why not have Substack? Spend less time scrolling through paid advertisements in line or while waiting for your dinner date, and spend more time reading!
The app is super functional, saves where you left off reading in an article, and gives you access to chats for the newsletters you subscribe to. It’s sophisticated, and won’t try to sell you on Papaya reusables or that clothing brand you keep looking up on your browser.
So, here’s what you do, according to Substack:
Download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android. Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications (or not) so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
Lastly, a personal note:
I’m taking a break for October! Why? Because this lady is getting hitched!
In 21 days, I’m marrying the love of my life, Ben Wright. I’m also a DIY bride on a super tight budget, which means I’m taking care of all the tiny details. For example, on my mind today? Getting a detailed schedule and info sheet to our volunteer bartenders because who is going to get the ice for the drinks?!?
As much as I would love to edit the recent podcast I recorded with a friend about Sofia Coppola and Greta Gerwig, write about The Crown, and host a virtual hangout to talk about a movie we all watch, I cannot realistically pull this wedding off and stay on top of my day job.
In the meantime, read any articles you missed, send me feedback, and say a prayer for us! I’m excited to start bringing you more regular, high quality, AI-free content come November.
When I write to you again, this will no longer be Leading Ladies with Heather Cate. It will be Leading Ladies with Heather Wright. (Isn’t that insane?!?!? This 30-year-old woman never thought she would meet her leading man!)
For now — tell me below, what do you want more of, here in this corner of the internet?
xoxo
Heather
Based on the above answer, do you want more revisits to classics, or do you want to stick with them times and read about current releases?
